It’s looking more and more like I’ll be relocating to a new city this summer with my long-term significant other (he just got into his preferred law program a few states over).
I’m finishing up my bachelor’s degree this spring and have decent professional work experience including state and federal awards, certifications, and a large project with my current employer set to wrap this spring. I think I’ll be a strong candidate, but I’m terrified of the current job market and I know that applying from out-of-state can work against me.
What can I do to still be a competitive candidate? For example, my resume clearly lists the location of my university and current job; should I put at the top of my resume that I’m planning on relocating in July 2019 (regardless of the job)?
Is there a specific way to handle this? Or is this less important than I think? Any tips from people who have applied to jobs before moving?
