Hi All! First time poster so pardon any issues. I have worked for a large bank for 2 years and was recently promoted (6 months ago) with a 7k annual raise and a very generous benefits package. Since my promotion 4 coworkers with various roles have left my company for a competitor. The competitor reached out to me with an offer, but after countering and not being able to reach an agreement I politely and professionally declined. The HR department tried to call a few times after my declination, but I did not answer or return their call. Their offer has a larger base salary, but the benefits are not as good. I set a bottom line for myself and they did not reach it so I declined without much true consideration. IMHO my bottom line may have been a little higher than it should of been, but I am emotionally attached to my current role and it would require a lot for me to leave it. Over the last week they had a former coworker reach out to me personally and try to persuade me to join the team. Today HR emailed asking if we could talk and revisit the offer and counter offer they made. I feel foolish and somewhat embarrassed for not taking the calls from HR following my declination. My first question is if my unprofessional action of not taking or returning the calls will ultimately hurt me? My second question is how much value should I put on my feelings when I am ultimately looking at more money?
TL;DR I gave the recruiter the cold shoulder after declining an offer, but they want to present another offer. Will this hurt me? How important is emotional attachment when considering a position with a higher salary?
