One click or it takes an hour, same results

Is this normal? I feel like either I'm one-click applying for jobs or I am forced to create an account, upload my resume, answer their history/status questions, give extensive info on each job, mandatory three references, mandatory cover letter, multiple essay questions asking me to expand on my experiences, a personality questionnaire section, and salary requirements. Then an hour has gone by and I've only applied to one job and they probably won't even respond. Meanwhile the one-click apply jobs don't reply, either. I am applying to jobs within the scope of my major that I am overqualified for, I also have experience, I've reworked my resume recently, I don't get it.
