My boss told me in the end of December I should probably start looking for another job and implied that we are looking at the end of January. Things just have not been working out for different reasons. It was a very toxic environment, but more than that, they need someone with a higher accounting skill set (I am just a admin assistant). And I did start looking, but with the holidays, it was a bit difficult and things didn't start rolling until just now. Last Wednesday she told me that since I still have plenty of vacation days left, I should take off until the end of January so I can focus on my job search while still getting full pay and benefits. I agreed, and am doing that now. She also asked me to clean out my desk etc., which I did, and I said my goodbyes, however, I told her I still have a few things that I would like to sort out with HR. Our HR person has been sick, and got back today. Tomorrow I am planning on meeting her to go over everything. Things are a bit unclear to me. Did I "officially" get fired, or is there a chance they'll twist it as me having resigned voluntarily ? In my conversation tomorrow I want to make clear that I am not resigning. I'll be happy to come back to work until I find a new position. And if I am getting fired, I obviously need to know my official last day (I assume it's this Friday) for unemployment purposes.
Can you guys let me know if there is any other questions I should ask or any other points I need to bring up? I feel like things have not been clearly communicated with me and there has been a lot of sideways talk. I also haven't been asked to sign anything. want to make sure I know exactly what I need to know. Any tips will be helpful!
