Just as the title says. I've been wanting to leave my company for a while now. I'm constantly frustrated with the way the company has been running things, we've had constant change in leadership in the two years and they're constantly laying people off or changing what the role entails. I've been stuck in my role (title) for the past year and a half with no sight of promotion or changing roles. I was basically told today that I have to make a number of improvements in my performance in the next two months to even be at a point where they can have the conversation of moving me. If I fail that, I get put on a PIP.
So basically I have to step up or step out and that's still no guarantee that I'll have a position because we're going through an acquisition where I'm sure there will be more cuts as the two companies fully merge.
I have to say at this point I'm beyond frustrated after that conversation. There wasn't even a point to move me to another role where I would be happier; I asked. I've gone for promotions and moves before but have been denied over the past year. I think it's high time I move on to a different company and cut my losses.
Thankfully, I have been interviewing the past few months with other companies and have a really good shot with one but I have a little fear that moving on to another company will be just as bad if not worse. The one I have a shot with would be a promotion for me with potential for people leadership, which is something I've been craving for the past 3 years.
My question is, if put in this situation, what would you do? Is it even worth it to kill myself for those changes? My feeling is no, but I'm curious what others see it as. I'm sure finding a new job is no guarantee but I feel like I'm on borrowed time until my hand is forced to find a new job regardless.
I'll repost elsewhere if it isn't suitable here.
