Rumours following disappearance?

I was recently let go at my job and had an exit interview with my manager before leaving. I left without proper salutations other than to my immediate manager. As someone who is new to this situations, I was wondering what kind of rumours are spread afterwards. I am sure my coworkers will be wondering where I went and was wondering what my manager could say in response to that.

If I were to cross paths with any of my previous coworkers again, would it best to avoid communication with them? I am sure since I did not formally say good bye that they can assume what happened.
