Company that found me wants a 3 year contract?

So basically I graduated with a bachelors about 6 months ago. There was a Design Show on campus in which graduating students are selected to showcase their work in hopes of agencies seeing the work and hiring them. About 6 months after the showcase I get an email from a company saying one of their recruiters (who actually is an alumni from the school who graduated the year before me) saw my work and referenced me to them. When I looked at their website, it was a post production agency that specializes in photo retouching for some big name fashion/cosmetics brands. On their careers page it says they're looking for Senior Retoucher with 7+ years experience (I have zero) and a CGI Artist (I am not that).

When I met with them they explained to me that they're looking for new talent, basically for people with an art background they could train to be photo retouchers for their company. They said they don't care about photoshop experience etc. etc., just want someone with a fine art/design foundation because they said they usually turn out better than photo majors with some retouching experience.

The catch was that the "training period" was 3 years– which kind of seemed like a red flag to me. I know the alumni there is from Canada, so I'm assuming she probably needed a work visa. They said however since I have no experience in photo retouching, the 3 year commitment would be necessary.

Is this normal?

When I've looked at their social media it seems like most of the people who worked there don't work there anymore, so I'm getting the vibe that they have a hard time keeping people.
