Due to low pay (yay public education) and a second kiddo, I left my job after 5 years at a school this May. I landed in a reasonable job in July with an organization I had previously collaborated with. I have great benefits and a decent salary ($42k). I just finished my master’s degree last week with straight A’s and a stellar record. My husband is a full time student and not working at the moment but will go back to part time in January.
My problem is that I am bored out of my mind and feel like I am being underutilized. My boss is close to retirement and it has become clear that she does not appreciate my ‘let’s go!’ attitude. I spend half my day at work doing nothing work related. We are a team of 3.8 FTE and I think the other three ‘don’t want to ruin a good thing’.
I would like to start looking for another position but my husband will be starting law school in 18mo so we may not be living here.
