Possible job at a different industry but preferred job title

Currently unemployed. I’m looking for positions with assistant/coordinator positions in the film and television industry. I previously held an assistant position at a film and television studio.

The hiring manager over a phone call let me know up front they’re a tech hiring firm for their Office Coordinator position and let me think about transitioning into a different industry if I’m still interested.

I have no interest in the tech industry but having that title I feel will give me an edge months to a year from now in relevant positions back at TV and film positions. It’s worth mentioning I got “discharged” meaning fired at my previous job. Even though they gave me a severance it’s labeled as basically termination. HR, without asking, said she will always say I was a pleasure to work with whenever someone calls for a reference check but if push comes to shove she’ll have to say I was discharged if the hiring manager asks why I left them.

I’ve had two interviews so far where I feel the conversation turns on its side when I say I got terminated but everyone except the person who got me fired would have no problem having me use them as a reference, which I have ready. I could also dodge that question a year from now because I know I can kick ass and have a good reference with the tech company. Presumably they won’t ask why I left my 2nd to last job on my resume a year from now. Or am I wrong?

Anyone transition into a different industry and later transitioned back using relevant titles/job descriptions? Particularly with film/television/entertainment?
