Is it bad to ask too many questions to hr about pay / working hours etc

Just recently started an internship, and there is really no clarity on the working hours. One of the guys in the careers team said ideally they want students to work 37.5 hrs a week. Another business administrator in my team said im a casual employee and hrs are flexible and employees usually work from 8:30 - 5 or 9 - 5:30, so this assumes its 8 hrs a day of working time with a half hour lunch break. So im a bit confused on working hours, id like to work 40 hrs a week if possible but I dont know if I can because one of the other guys said 37.5 a week, I dont want to cause problems or come accross as stingy or not following instructions etc something like that. Also the B.A lady said that if you attend a lunch event thats not purely for social reasons, you get paid for it, for example we had a lunch event with a presentation related to use of software, and lunch was provided, the event took an hour. Im confused whether this is social or not because the event wasnt compulsory, and another hr person said that if lunch is provided, you dont get paid for it. People are saying different things and I just want clarity but I dont want to ask too many questions related to this sort of stuff because im only an intern and dont want to give an impression that im just thinking about the money or something like that, if that makes sense. Is it ok to ask these sorts of questions? Havent really worked in an office environment before or a company this big so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
