I have been (willfully) unemployed for about a 1.5 years now. Staying home with children.
I have an interview with my previous employer’s #1 competitor. Loyalty is huge in this industry. I was surprised I made it to the interview round. I’m sure they’re going to ask, why not go back to my previous employer (my real answer is that there are no open positions)... but that doesn’t sound like the right thing to say. And I know they are going to ask me how can they count on me to be loyal to their brands.
How can I convey that I will be loyal to this company without sounding desperate and without bad mouthing the former employer?
