I feel like I'm responsible for my coworker loosing their job. Not sure if I did the right thing or not.

I had a coworker who I really admired at first, and actually became decent friends with. Over the summer, however, they grew bitter of our job. They constantly complained about it on Twitter and Snapchat. They would call our company out by name, for everyone to see. It was getting to the point where it was super annoying, so I ended up muting her and ignoring her complaints to me irl. Last night, she got into a big Twitter fight over some randoms. The fight itself was on the context of racism. The people who she got into the fight with found out she worked for our company through her tweets, and they tweeted that an email to our workplace was being sent. I found the whole thing to be extremely unprofessional. I don't care what the fight was about, yes my coworker sounded very ignorant in their points, but it was the fact that they had complained SO MUCH about our job on social media, BY NAME, that it pretty much represented our company. We are a relatively small company even though we are growing. I know that any negativity online could hurt us. My coworker had already had several warnings about what they posted on social media before hand. I was growing tired of all of this. Regardless, I told my boss everything that had happened. I figured it would be better to hear things from me rather than some random people emailing our company. They removed her from the schedule, and they texted me "I loved working with you." I believe that people should be more responsible of what they post online. The fact that their tweets may never go away and always be there to represent our company scares the hell out of me. I guess I just want to know if I did the right thing by telling my boss the situation. I'm not sure if the twitter people ever emailed HR, but I'm sure if they didn't my coworker would still be on until Thanksgiving week is over. (We're going to be very busy) Thank you.
