Following up on a follow up?

I interviewed for a position last Thursday, the 1st of November. I was referred to the company by a friend of mine from HS and I thought I did well in my interview/he said that the interviewer liked me.

Interviewer told me that they would get back to me in a week, so I followed up the following Thursday (11/8) with a friendly check in. Interviewer told me he was meeting with some other candidates still and that it would be another week or so. Their message was cordial, but I don't know if that's me reading into anything.

Now today is a week later. Is it worth following up on a follow up, or is that seen as pestering?
