I’m a 23F. I passed out from an unknown cause on Sunday and was taken to the ER via ambulance. No one can figure out why this happened and for now, it’s diagnosed as a syncope. My PCP agreed. Everyone diagnosed me with a moderate case of whiplash, skull bruising along with a possible mild concussion.
They told me to take it easy and stay home with supervision for 48 hours. If this happens again, don’t worry too much but contact PCP no need to go to the ER - they ruled out every emergency cause. Blood work, echocardiogram, two EKG and countless vital testing - all normal.
This the end of the 48 hour period and I feel like absolute shit: - constant headache - neck pain/muscle spasms - shoulder pain/back pain - fatigue and unable to sleep through the night - my short term memory isn’t the best - grumpier than normal - slightly off balance
The only thing I want to do is lay in bed. My mental capacity just isn’t there right now.
Tomorrow I return to work. I’m actually a little nervous to due to my symptoms. I work in drug and alcohol clinical care. I have a bunch of running around to do, in loud spaces, computer work, a little bit of paperwork. I have coworkers who can help me out a great deal. I’m not saying I can’t go back but im not comfortable going back. If I do go back, I can’t see myself lasting a full 8 hours. I just finished my 90 days. I don’t have any sick days accrued yet, the only thing I have are two paid personal days.
Am I overreacting? Should I attempt going back or give myself more time? Is it better to go in for a little and leave or to just call off?
