I had originally applied for the full time position at this shop but they hired someone else. Then I got a call to interview for a new opening there, for a PT position.
In the interview, it was like I was already hired. There were no probing questions and I didn't have to fill out an application. We just chatted for a half hour. It was like the decision had already been made to hire me. I mean, it's a low status retail job, but still.
I may be starstruck, because the place is located in a very historic, cool landmark building of my city. The ambience is very bohemian and casual, so that could explain the hiring process, which was actually very pleasant! I couldn't say no to the job offer, but wonder if this is a setup to be taken advantage of somehow; the old "let's use our part time worker to cover every shift but not give them benefits" sort of thing. I hope not, as the owner seemed very nice.
