Currently working at a company that sells software, and although the pay/benefits are pretty good, I fee utterly under managed and underutilized. I do SEO training / consulting for customers of our software (it’s one of those SAAS web services) and about a year ago the former sales manager was given responsibility over me and my colleagues as well.
Now, him being a sales guy he doesn’t know or give two shits about seo, web development or It in general, and only directly manages the sales reps. This means that while it was nice initially to “not have a boss” and run our own show, I now find it kind of depressing and frustrating. Nobody follows up my work or gives a shit it seems, and thus I feel like my career is in limbo. I’ve taken to being more hands off recently, working from home or just not coming in to the office, but still no response from the “manager”.
Is this a legitimate thing that happens or am I just overreacting? Would you start looking at other jobs? As I said the pay and benefits are good but this is killing any passion or motivation for me.
