Please help me figure out what to change about my job hunting strategy

I refuse to apply for another job until I know exactly what's going on so I can fix it. Maybe then when I apply for jobs I'll run a better chance of getting it.

I applied to Walmart near my house and immediately got a call back. I answered it right away and the lady said my hours Wouldn't work. I quickly told her that I was very available and I could change them since I'm off school until August she goes "Oh! Well I'll see what we have and call you back!" And then she hangs up. She never calls back so the next day I call the Walmart and I'm left on the ringing phone for 10 minutes. No one answers so I just hang up. I guess she didn't find any positions for me.

I've been looking for a job since I was 18,I'm 19 now, almost 20. I go through this periodically. I have a few months of constantly filling out applications and then becoming discouraged and giving up before trying again. I hate it it makes my feel genuinely worthless.

I have to apply for jobs that are in walking distance or atleast jobs I can ride the bus to. I don't have a car because I don't have any money because I don't have a job. A fantastic trap. This means the jobs I can apply to are fairly limited.

The last time I had a job I was 16 years old. I had to quit because my mom couldn't drive me anymore, sadly I didn't put in a 2 week notice. I wonder if that's why I'm not getting hired.

When I was in school I started getting really bad grades because of increasing anxiety. I dropped out ,lost all of my friends, and stayed indoors until 18. I'd job hunt sometimes I'd leave the house for an interview nearing the end of my shit in stint. Just recently I started going to school again. I'm trying to get my diploma. I am off of school right now but getting my diploma has been going well I think,if that gets messed up I don't know what I'll do.

I let employers know about the school thing and the transportation issues I had that made me quit my original job.

I watch all these videos on "how to interview like a pro". I put on my best button up and bring a notebook full of questions about the company,I smile lots and tell them about myself to the best of my ability. It always seems like the interviews goes super well. But next thing I know they don't even send me a rejection email they just never get back to me.

It's horrible I need to know what I'm doing wrong. If I go into anymore interviews the same way I have been I'm just squandering an opportunity.

I recently signed up with a temp agency,I don't really how those work but somebody on discord suggested it. What do you guys think? If anybody is a hiring manager please let me know what you think I'm doing wrong.

I mean for McDonald's and Walmart wouldn't even take me.
