Back in August, I found this charity organization online in my area to volunteer with since I was having trouble finding work after graduating in May and wanted something to fill my time. It is a cancer charity and after losing both my parents to cancer, I of course felt a special connection to the cause.
I applied to do data entry, but ended up being the only person in the whole organization doing it. My volunteer supervisor demanded so much work out of me that she ultimately convinced me to interview and hire my own volunteers under me to essentially become the "team leader" of the data entry effort. Basically, what I thought would be a 3-5 hour a week volunteer role ended up becoming an unpaid full-time job.
I ended up finding a job in October and getting involved in some other projects, but still I had this huge commitment with the volunteer organization that I didn't mean to take on. I had a team of five volunteers working under me, but one by one, they all started dropping out for one reason or another and she's asked me to take up more of my time to interview more volunteers.
I just don't really have the time or interest to put in this level of effort anymore. I emailed her today telling her I won't be able to continue, but she replied begging me to call her tomorrow.
What should I say to her?
