Is it the norm now that phone interviews consist of the interviewer transcribing every word you say verbatim?

So I’ve failed my last couple of phone interviews and I’m really struggling. In each interview, the interviewer is typing out everything I say and frequently asks me to pause because they can’t type as fast as I’m talking (I don’t think I’m speaking particularly quickly.) I don’t even feel like I’m interviewing with a human being anymore and I can’t make a connection because it’s so... awkward?

Anybody have any tips?
