So, as the title says, I (25, F) was unemployed. It was COVID-related (I live with my sister, who is immunocompromised) but it’s been five months and I’m out of money.
I applied for some random part time job at a bird store, and I immediately got hired. ($13.50/hr, seems like an okay enough job). I’m required to be available on weekends.
I also just got offered a job as a hostess for a restaurant owned by my mom’s boyfriend’s nephew-in-law. It would be weekends from 3pm-9pm, and he said I’d be making around $100 a night (which might honestly be an exaggeration, because damn).
On top of all of that, I just signed up to do Doordash, which I kind of want to try doing in my free time, just for some supplemental income.
So, that’s obviously a lot of work and a lot of working my schedule around, namely with the first two jobs. I told the bird store guy that I prefer working later, but now I’d probably have to work earlier on weekends to compensate for the later shift at the restaurant job. Also, both jobs are twenty minutes away from my and probably around thirty-forty minutes apart.
ON TOP OF ALL OF THIS, I have a three-or-so-week roadtrip planned in May to visit my friend in Montana. This trip is non-negotiable, as it’s the only thing that has brought me any amount of joy in months. To cancel it would absolutely crush me, and some random part-time jobs are not worth that.
So, I guess what I’d like to ask is, what would you do in this situation? How do I tell my new boss about my new second job, and how do I tell both of them that I’ll be gone for nearly a month in May?
TL;DR: I’m about to start two new part-time jobs, (as well as Doordash), and I need advice on time management, making my work schedule not overlap, and telling my new bosses I’ll be going on vacation for 3-4 weeks in May.
