Unemployed several years after an injury and a few surgeries

I was injured on the job that put me out for several years with a few surgeries. I cannot return to my former career as my professional certification expired while out with one of my surgeries. A career change was in order after twenty-years. So, I went back to school online, earning an AA, BA, MA, and can not find a job doing anything, let alone what I went back to school for. I had my resume professionally redone. I had a few interviews and never heard back. Signed up with all kinds of job boards and worked with recruiters. This is crazy. All this schooling and I can not get a job bagging groceries. I am at a loss here.
