Licensed aesthetician wondering if anyone can provide guidance in finding a more financially stable job in covid world?
I have 7 years experience as a federal nursing assistant at the VA(allowed me to function with a more broad scope of practice than state allows), worked as a shift lead supervisor while waitressing(worked there a year and a half during aesthetician school). I’ve been placed in leadership roles in all of my past jobs and have been told I’m a great mentor and educator. I also have surprised myself with my ability to sell as I was a top producer while serving and I broke regional sales records at my current aesthetician job within six months of employment(I’ve been there a little over a year now).
My dream is to eventually either work in a medspa, dermatology, or back in a hospital setting as a medical esthetician and/or laser tech. There are a few costly certifications I’ll need to be more qualified for a position like that and things have been quite shaky in esthetics due to covid so I can’t really afford them right now. I’d love to at least stay part time at my current position to keep gaining experience, but need something more financially secure for the time being. I would love to find something that may be a boost to my resume if possible. I don’t have a college degree, but did take a couple semesters of classes when I was on track toward a nursing degree. I’ve considered trying out sales since I’ve really surprised myself in recent years with my success in that—I just want to be sure I’m in a field where I can actually help people and I’m selling a truly useful product for clients. Anyways, I am still quite uncertain and am open to any suggestions! Thanks :)
P.S. trying to avoid having to go back into being a nursing assistant since I left before covid because of major burn out.
