I am so sick and tired of companies calling themselves a ‘family’ when really they are absolutely far from it and it makes me so so mad.

I work for a globally well known retail brand and been with them for 6 years and let me tell you how much of a crock of sh- that is.

They will push us to work unrealistic expectations, expect us to take abuse from management, backstab us but because ‘we are a family’, we can achieve and get through anything.

They give us a lousy pay and fully expect us to work our ass off but ‘reward’ us with a voucher that we can spend IN STORE because - “we are one team, we are a family”.

The management will belittle us, lie to our
faces about future promotions to get us to work harder with nothing in return, expect us to smile more but never apologise for their mistakes because ‘we are a family’.

The company’s values are an absolute joke and I was so naive to believe that their family motto was real. I was a student desperately looking for work and friends. I graduated 3 years ago and I’m still stuck here.

I am desperately trying to get out but the job front is hard right now. Application after application and still nothing yet but I’m hopeful.

And don’t get me started on their ‘environmentally friendly forward thinking’ f—-ing fake attitude because it’s not real and they are all lying to you. Creating products that claim are made from 100% recycled garments/materials when in fact they are ACTUALLY just referring to the paper label and tags that are attached to that garment and not the actual clothing itself. Seriously. Don’t be fooled.
