I got a new job about 3 months ago - it's a wonderful place and in my preferred field, but unfortunately they pay peanuts (it's simply unsustainable for me) and it's a lower position with different job duties than I had hoped to do after investing in a graduate degree. I wouldn't have taken the position or even have applied if it weren't for my panic over the current situation.
I'm applying for new jobs now, but I'm struggling as to whether I should put this job on my resume and talk about it in my cover letter. On one hand, it's a good company in the field I'm looking at and one project that I'm on in particular would be *extremely* relevant to the jobs I'm looking at, but on the other hand, it's only been a few months and I fear it could reflect poorly on me. I'm fairly young and didn't have much time between undergrad and grad school, so I don't have any jobs that I've held for more than 1.5 years to show that I'm not a job hopper.
How should I approach mentioning this job? I have some acceptable reasons I can offer as to why I'm leaving if asked (other than what I mentioned and nothing negative!), but I don't know how to approach having it on my resume cover letter.
