I applied to be a teacher, The county that I’m in needed a art teacher at one of our title I schools,I don’t have a degree in education but I have a large background in art enough so that I know I can teach a class especially on elementary level. I End up interviewing for the position and I get it but I told the principal you know if the pay is at pay substitutes Salary then I cannot take this position. She assures me that she’s hiring a full-time teacher,but she doesn’t know the pay but she isn’t hiring a sub.So I go along with it. Tuesday I get my acceptance letter which of course I accept under the pretense that I will be a full-time teacher with all the bells and whistle‘s. But today on the other hand I get my welcome packet the I-9 and the tax forms yada yada yada when I look at the base salary in clear bold print it says your pay will be at a long-term substitute teachers rate. I feel soooo betrayed because I was told that I would be a full time teacher but they a basically slapping a fancy label over a substitute title...
I’m so glad that I didn’t put my resignation in at my other job...but the same time it sucks because my main job is 911 dispatch which is straining mentally,Emotionally and physically...Tomorrow I do plan of talking to the school HR in hopes it was a mistake...but deep down I know it wasn’t.
