Hello!
I want to apologize in advance - I’m sure this has been asked here before, but I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for when I searched.
Earlier this afternoon I had a Zoom interview for a job I’m very VERY interested in. I’ve been working in my field (Occupational Therapy) for a little more than a year now; as a new grad I was willing to take anything that was offered in the beginning. My current job immediately hired me (someone without formal experience) and didn’t really look too far into my background. I didn’t have a formal interview and they pretty much offered me the position on the spot after just 10 minutes of talking on the phone. I didn’t have to worry about any interview follow up etiquette because I started immediately.
I ended up loving the job but due to COVID and other circumstances I now have to leave. As I mentioned, I just had an interview today for a position that is looking for someone with more hands-on experience and it was a pretty formal interview with the hiring manager. I think it went pretty well! They told me they had a few more candidates to talk to but they’d get back to me by this time next week. I don’t want to seem too eager or annoying, but I also want to be polite and continue to remind them of my interest. Do I email the person who interviewed me to say thank you? If so, when should I contact them? I don’t want to come off as desperate, but I also don’t want to come off as aloof. How do I find the middle ground and communicate my interest/appreciation??
