I wanted to apply for a job but the job posting was taken down?

I was working on a job application but the posting got removed from their website and LinkedIn.

Fortunately, I have a connection who works there and she is the one who told me about the job. I messaged her and stated if I could still apply or if the job is unavailable. I got a notification on LinkedIn stating that someone from their company viewed my profile but I can’t see who.

My connection responded to me one week later and said that the job position is filled. What do you think happened?
