Hello!
I just got a job "assistant to plumber" (no experience) and now I got another offer for warehouse work (for which I also have no experience). I kinda want to try warehouse job, but it pays a little bit less (beginner). And I'm sure the plumber pay will rise with time and me (hopefully) improving. But IDK. I had interview for warehouse job and the warehouse boss seemed very open and honest; he also said he wants respect, does not support toxic environments, help each other,..
My plan was to leave plumber job, go to warehouse job -> get experience; find another warehouse job (for which company it's not main focus/business), and work there.
But plumbing is also not bad at all. Although is fieldwork, and you need to learn quite a bit and be more responsible for mistakes. Also using hammer drill (here we have I'd say 90% brick/concrete buildings) at the age of 50 ain't gonna be too "fun". Although I haven’t yet been using drill at this job (started working this week), but I do have experience using the drill and other tools. And tbh I'm really not sure if I have the skills and motivation to learn all the plumbing.. Also plumbing is much more relaxed, no (or less) boss around, no ( or less) time pressure (work with your pace), long time for coffee/food/pause.. you're on your own to do the job)
Also I'm from Central EU, so I don't think warehouses conditions are that bad as it's seen from posts about US. Especially as it's not really heavy lifting job.
I kind of decided for warehouse, but at the same time, I feel like I'm throwing away big opportunity for plumbing career. (I'm not sure that I can be "full time" plumber, as I have no education in that regard).
Any thoughts? Advice? Much appreciated.
Thank you very much.
