I found a few local government jobs I want to apply for, but applications must be submitted via governmentjobs.com. The application requires that I answer whether an employer could be contacted for each job.
I am a recent graduate and I only have one previous job besides my current one, and I did not leave on good terms with my bosses. The environment was toxic and they altered my pay structure to cut costs without informing me first using a loophole. I have 3 former co-workers who can vouch for this and speak well of me while in this position, but the application only allows me to put in contact information for supervisors.
I really want a job that pays me better than my current one so I'm not living paycheck to paycheck. I've read multiple posts on reddit saying that marking "no" would be seen as a red flag and that the recruiter will just ask for employment history. I'm honestly very concerned and frustrated right now and would appreciate any guidance.
