I don't know if I'm just overthinking everything, but I honestly feel worried about what career I want to work towards. I've provided some detail about my educational background if this helps :)
At school I got decent grades and decided to pursue further education in computer science. I was doing OK, I was good at the 'hardware' area of things but in terms of coding and maths I was really struggling. In my 2nd (final) year I had to quit for health reasons. I managed to recover, but I wasn't able to do my exams. I higher education at 18 with no grades.
Deciding it was time for a clean slate, the same year (2018) I managed to get some work experience for a few months working as a computer mechanic in a local computer repair shop.
The next year (2019), I decided to take an access course for an online university, focusing on science, technology and maths. I knew I enjoyed that kind of 'area' so I thought it would be a good way to maybe see what I was good at. Whilst doing that I also did some work experience at a local hospital, which offered me a paid position in data entry late last year. This only lasted a few months however, since COVID forced me to quit my job to protect my parents who I live with (they are a high risk group)
I received my access module results in June. I passed my access module, which I was so pleased with, and I decided to take a part-time online degree in environmental science. I'm hoping to get some more job experience whilst doing my degree to help me with my job prospects and paying off my fees. I took environmental science because I loved studying it, I just started it and I'm really enjoying it but I really don't know what prospects I have job-wise with this degree. It is a weird turn from doing computer hardware and data entry, but I'm hoping that because it's a broad degree I'll be able to get some transferable skills with it. Is there any career out there that people could suggest I look into? I do still enjoy computer hardware a lot but I just found I'm much more passionate about environmental science. I'd really appreciate some advice.
