Just got a call to set up an interview, great news right? Except I just started a new job today. What should I do?
Some background information. I received a B.S. in computational physics with a minor in math in Dec. 17. Since then I have been applying to various IT and lab positions since then, but didn't have much luck. Fast forward to two weeks ago and I'm applying to several new positions, including a data analyst role and a position working in an industrial lab doing QC work. Within 3 hours of applying to the lab position I received an email to set up a phone interview. I did the interview, advanced through to an in person interview and was eventually offered the job. Finally, some good news!! I started the job today, at $15/hr, not great, not terrible. After work today, I get a call from someone at the data analyst place. Unfortunately I wasn't able to answer them at the time, but they left a message to call them back to what I can only assume is to set up another interview.
My question to all of you is what should I do in this situation? Obviously I have struggled to even get the job that I have right now, and don't want to burn bridges with them if I can help it at all. On the other hand, this other position would be a salaried office position and overall be a much better fit for myself. What should I do? Do I try and go for it and possibly have to take time off after just starting to be able to go in for an interview? Or do I stick with these people who finally offered me a position and try again at a future date?
