Hi everyone. I've been working full-time for a month now, and already I'm feeling the strain. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome hypermobile type. This is the mildest form of EDS so i count myself lucky, but it means I suffer with chronic joint pain, mostly in my hands, hips, neck, legs and spine, and have chronic fatigue.
in the past I worked retail and hospitality as a cashier and a bartender, and briefly worked as a merchandiser. I was forced to leave all of these jobs because I couldnt lift heavy weights or stay on my feet for extended periods, even though my shifts were usually from 3-5 hours long.
I was sure that all i needed was a desk job to relieve my issues, and after months of searching I found a job as an office administrator. Now I sit for 8.5 hours a day and type away at my desk instead of standing on my feet and being active. It should be perfect, but it's just... not.
I am more tired now than ive ever been, regardless of how much sleep I get. My joint pain in my hands neck and back are so severe that I am drinking at night to cope. I've only been here for a month and I just dont know how to continue. How do you all balance your health with your worklife?
TL;DR: have worked both on my feet and at a desk and still suffering greatly from chronic health problems. Dont know what to do anymore. Please help???
