Is traveling for a job normal? How many of you have to travel, and how does your spouse/SO handle it?

I was offered a job with potentially up to a week travel every month. My wife is completely against it. I’m trying to figure out how common traveling is, and if my wife is overreacting.

My FIL said if you want a successful career, you have to be willing to travel in your early years as you work your way up the ladder. I agree with him completely. It’s not always the case, but I think it’s true.
