I've worked several years at my current job, and while I hate to speak poorly of a workplace, the employers were pretty toxic. I'm putting in my two weeks tomorrow, how do I leave on good terms?
They've tried to sell the company several times, laid us off and rehired us, and shifted an unworkable amount of responsibility on my person because they never wanted to hire more people.
The problem is, they have set things up where too many operations go through myself, with no one available to replace me. Not only is there too much information to train someone on in two weeks, there is also no one available to take over my role due to the short staffing.
I'm about to put in my two weeks tomorrow, but I really worry about how to separate with them without leaving on bad terms. I spent a lot of time and effort cultivating a good relationship with them and even if they've taken advantage of me, it's one of my first jobs, and I really dont want it to go to waste.
Im thinking about offering some of my time between my new job to assist them in finding a replacement, and continue writing guides on how to do what I do. I know I can't control how they react, but I want to leave as professionally as possible, and maximize my chances to leave on good terms. What are your thoughts?
