Been looking for a new job since the end of March when I got laid off. Having a hard time navigating job postings that match with my skills.

I've been working as a Sound Editor for the past year and prior to that I was an Assistant Video Editor for 3 years. I got laid off back in March due to the virus and have been looking for work (full time or freelance) ever since. The company I last worked for wasn't the greatest. They were small and didn't really know how to run a business (ex. They didn't know that hourly workers in California go into overtime after 8hrs and double time after 12. Had to fight them to pay me overtime a couple times). My problem now is finding work that matches my experience. I've mostly been looking for Assistant Editor roles since that is what I have more experience in, but I'm also looking for audio positions. There are some postings that I see that I know I qualify for and I of course apply, but then I never hear from them again. I got one bite from a marketing company that was for a freelancing assistant editor/sound editor position, but they haven't contacted me for any work yet (they got my day rate and told me they would email me if there was work available). It seems like few companies are hiring since the virus situation has not gotten any better since March, so I assume at least a few companies have a hiring freeze going on.

Has anybody had a similar experience and have any advice to share?
