Work at a hospital but goal is to work in programming/data scientist should I quit?

Hi All,

So I work in a hospital in electronic health records and have been working for 1.5 years after graduating from UC Berkeley Cognitive Science. I applied to this job hoping I could get some experience with databases but so far there has been no SQL work except for Visio diagrams for work flows.

So currently I decided to start a data science masters from Northwestern which makes me wonder should I quit my job if it’s unrelated to what I want to do and I am not getting the experience which I thought I would?
