Health issues coming back to bite be

I am an incredibly hard worker that is self motivated and able to take on anything given to me. About two years ago I had to leave social work because I was struggling with health issues that were impacting my work. It didn’t feel fair to the families I worked with to keep working until I could give me all.

I have now resolved those health issues and have nothing preventing me from having full attendance. The issues comes with my references. I know from a callback that my last supervisor has reported trouble with attendance due to my health issues.

I know I can’t change the past, but am looking for guidance on how to answer this question after reference checks? Or if there is a way to get in front of it during the interview?
