Current role: I am a sales person at a small but successful SaaS company. I hate sales. I hate selling. I was pushed into this role because they didn't want to lay me off as my original role in sales ops was being eliminated. I thought I could adjust, but I can't. Square peg, round hole. The trouble is, my benefits are outstanding. Unlimited PTO, great base salary, sufficient HMO healthcare, cheap and good dental/vision, and even before C19, 80% WFH.
I got an offer for an ops position today. I'd be going from salaried to hourly and taking a ~$3K paycut (I would obviously negotiate the pay up). PTO, I can accrue 156 hrs/yr, but only have 72 hrs available to me at a time - I cannot carry more than 72 hrs at a time. I've already asked for more details on their health benefits, so we'll see.
I know I've struck gold with my current benefits, and I know it's screwed up my optics. But 3 day lumps of PTO? Really?
The only reason I'm trying to shine this turd is because I loathe sales, and love ops. And it's an insane time right now to be hiring, but this company is medical adjacent so they're probably doing well.
The other thing, this offer was sent via email - no one called me, which was weird. Do I respond/negotiate via email?
Thoughts? How can I get the most out of this offer?
