How to not feel obsolete after position is eliminated?

I found out today that my position has been eliminated and I have been let go. I should’ve seen it coming - management has been very stressed about money the last few months (I worked for an agricultural manufacturer, I was an executive assistant). My company even had hourly employees including myself work for 32 hours instead of 40 for 2 weeks in January. I worked there over 3 years. My last job had the same problem (I was an admin assistant for nurses) but with a different industry - health insurance. How do I stop feeling obsolete even though I only seem to work jobs that have the positions eliminated after working them for several years? I worked at my current job for 3 years, my previous job for 5.
