Do I jump ship?

Got a new job 2 months ago. Loved the work instantly. BUT suddenly the person who hired me 2 months ago (my director) was let go by the CEO because the CEO “didn’t like his work style.” Keep in mind the director had been with the company for 10+ years. This CEO came in just months ago. CEO put a contract employee (Joe) into the director’s role. Joe was technically in my department but in a niche area that I have 0 experience in. Joe is now giving me all his old tasks. The problem is that while I’m doing all of Joe’s old work, he is hardly working at all. Leaving early everyday, stretching out small managerial tasks to take multiple days, micro-managing what everyone else is doing, etc. We share an office so I can hear everything. It makes me think he’s planning on leaving so he’s just making sure everyone can cover the bases when he’s gone. He also makes veiled comments about how people should be looking for new jobs. It just makes me feel like he knows something we don’t.... Am I over thinking this? Or do I need to start looking again? I just got here man!
