Did i make my employers suspicious of me?

tl;dr: i asked my managers how they know if an employee steal money/short changes a customer. it was a genuine inquiry, but does it look suspicious?

I don’t even know if this is the right subreddit to use but i have this question i asked at work today and i think it may have gotten me in trouble so i need advice. i work at a grocery store where all employees always rotate positions, including registers. ive always been advised to make sure no one is logged into my cashier account because if someone short changes a customer on my account, it would fall on me. but, it got me thinking. if we are all rotating registers all day and the register cash is not reset every hour, how in the hell do they know who short changed a customer? even if its logged into an account. i asked one manager this question and got three different vague answers (i guess its supposed to be a secret??) another manager then walked up and said that they have cameras in the registers. i said “oh really?” and he just laughed. then, when i turned around to help a customer i overheard that manager say to the first manager i asked “thats a question and honest person would ask.” (i don’t think i need to clarify he said that sarcastically.) i asked this question out of genuine curiosity, but i feel as though i made the managers suspicious of me. i know i am an honest worker, but i’m worried that this genuine question may have put me in hot water. what do you think? can i fix this? am i over thinking it?
