Hello, I'm currently in the job market as a marketing/communications professional with tech skills (about 4 years full time work experience after university). I'm a US citizen but willing to relocate basically anywhere for the right position.
In my previous position (basically a one person MarCom department) I coordinated and managed my company's participation in trade shows on-site at shows in Europe. Due to this (and the company's other international marketing/outreach efforts) I gained a substantial international network of contacts/people I worked with in certain countries. I'd like to reach out to some of them on LinkedIn to inquire if they know of any job possibilities for what I do, but I know networking shouldn't be about asking someone for a job referral. I'm a bit nervous about knowing what to say otherwise since the reason I'm contacting them is my job search.
Does anyone else have experience reaching out to international contacts? I can't exactly offer to get a coffee with them...
