Applied to a government position early June, had an interview around the 20th that same month. I got told it'd be awhile since fiscal stuff, so to call and check in after a week. Weeks pass. I lose hope. I call again July 16th, the date the job was suppose to start and leave a voicemail to hear back I do, I get a voicemail the next day, call back get offered the position. Lady claims since the start date was yesterday, I'm offered to start either the 1st or 16th of August, I choose the 16th to give my current job some time and to set up a move, but then I get a letter today from the Capital saying that I've been rejected. It's dated for 16th, the day before I got my callback and offered the position.
I check the online status of my application and it's dated for TODAY. I'm really freaking out now.
What gives? Should I be worried? I can't call until tomorrow morning and I'm ripping my hair out through stress.
I want to say that I've been rejected for that particular position and it's just a technicality, but I don't know. I just don't want to show up the 16th in a suit and look like an idiot when I'm told I don't work there.
TL;DR: Got offered a job position, get a rejection letter a week later dated a day after I got the call offering me the job. What do?
