My company has made it clear that I’m going to be put up for a new job/promotion, one that nobody has had it before and there isn’t something similar to it. I’m off an entry level position and this one is probably 2-3 levels above my current position so I don’t want to get lost in that big transition financially.
My parent company would be paying my salary in full from my current company. So I was wondering since my company is going to be getting my entire salary freed up from their payroll, even if I asked for a substantial raise 30-40%, would it still make sense for them to consider giving that to me because they’d be paying less than what they were? Has anyone had something like this happen before? How much does other market research into a similar role somewhere else help?
More curious about tactics to have that conversation with them because nobody else is up for that new role either so there’s no competition.
Thanks in advance and happy to explain more!
