I currently work in a warehouse making $21.70. I am a the credit/returns "lead", which is part of the receiving department and I inspect returned products and decide whether or not the customer gets credit. I put quotations around the word lead, because I don't actually lead anyone and I work completely alone.
My first year was great, starting at $17 as a basic order picker, ending up where I am now. I was given raises multiple times for my quality work, but several months ago the branch manager changed and now I get nothing but negative feedback. I won't go into too much detail about it unless you're interested, but basically I'm tired of it. My coworkers are tired of it too and I've tried to rally everyone up to get a meeting going to voice our complaints, but most people think they're lined up to get promotions so they wont do it. I am doubtful that anyone will be getting raises and no one has even changed positions since the new manager came in.
I think it's time to jump ship and find another company to work for but I'm having trouble finding anything that can at least meet my current wage. I live in California, so even $21.70/hr is barely livable. I'm willing to try new careers as well and would also prefer it since I'm getting tired of being in a warehouse overall.
