I’ve got an in-person interview coming up for a temporary job covering a maternity leave, direct recruiting and direct hire with the company. I had a phone screen with the company a little over a week ago, and during that I told them I was working part-time non-professional job’s. During the call I was technically still employed st those jobs, but the next week (last week) I was starting a temp job I got through an agency. The temp job I’m working has absolutely no pathway to a permanent job, is only for about 3 months until a project is complete, and I am an employee of the temp agency not the company I complete work at.
The company I’m interviewing with made it clear that there are permanent opportunities in the same role after the end of the temp role, and I can apply internally for other roles while I’m working as a temp. This, plus the fact that the temp role I am interviewing for is more related to a career I want, while the temp role I have now is related to the career I’m trying to get out of, means I would take the new temp role if offered.
Would it be okay to mention my current temp role and that it just started? I’m worried it will come off as a red flag because they could think since I’m willing to leave my current temp job right after I started, then I’ll do the same with them. It would be easier to just not mention the new temp job, but because of my limited professional experience and an almost 1-year gap since my last career-related job, I kinda need all the relevant experience I can get.
