Second Interview will contact references afterwards. I quit my most recent job after 2.5 months. What do I do?

I just nailed my most recent interview and got a phone call the next morning for the second interview this Monday! I’m super excited about this opportunity as it would be a huge pay jump from $12hr to $25-$30hr but there’s a large obstacle standing in front of me. I quit my most recent part-time job after 2.5 months because despite how cool it was to telecommute and work with a small team, I struggled fitting into the company’s work style. I did my best to work into the mould but after two notices from my boss about my performance, I realized that I was not a great fit for their company. I decided to give my two weeks and did my best to assist my coworker to take on my tasks while they looked for another publicist.

After interviewing with this new company, they were enthusiastic hearing about my experience from said previous job however I told them I quit due to lack of hours and low pay. I did my best to speak well of my previous employer however I don’t feel comfortable using them as a reference. I started to crash and burn in the end and I don’t think it will reflect well. I do have three references I can use from previous jobs but the most relevant experience for the new job comes from my most recent position. Would it work to use a co-worker that performed the same tasks as I do now? I’m not even sure she if she’s willing to though but we did get along.
