My workplace just went through a restructure. My direct manager was fired, so was the director of my department. My new boss is the VP and was talking to me about a potential promotion, but he was really not totally aware of everything I do. As I was explaining the current responsibilities, I mentioned I'm doing a lot more than I was originally hired to do (based on my original interview). He asked if I had a job description he could look at to see if I can get promoted into this new role.
I don't have one and don't remember getting one when I started a year and a half ago. However ..I just found my job description with the help of another employee. Turns out it basically lists everything under the sun as a responsibility, including what I was doing and more.
I haven't talked to the VP yet but now I'm nervous he's going to think I was complaining or lying about doing more work than I said I was supposed to. I'm not sure if he was trying to get me an immediate raise or if he was definitely trying to get me this promotion I just am paranoid he's going to think I'm being dishonest.
I could use some advice. He's really personable I just don't want to come off wrong.
