Posting from the UK.
I started a new job a couple weeks ago as a senior engineer at a fast-growing, exciting startup that's quickly transitioning to being a global enterprise.
It's...not what I expected. The team for one is much bigger than I'm used to. In my previous place I was one of three developers/engineers, and I got involved in the whole end-to-end process - requirements gathering, stakeholder management, design, architecture, implementation, the works. Here, I'm one of 6, soon to be 12, and they have roles delineated to each function. I'm worried I'm going to be pigeon-holed as "just another engineer" and be incredibly restricted on what I do day-to-day.
But I could accept that if I felt part of and inspired by a good team. This may be a consequence of the company growing so fast and going on a massive hiring spree, but my team and wider department (80+ people) seem...devoid of culture. It's great at the company level, but my department just seems very cold and unwelcoming. On my first day, my boss sat me at a free desk almost five seats away from the rest of my team and just...left me to it. Gave me some background on my second day for 30 minutes of the team, but otherwise doesn't really talk to me. I get the strong feeling that he doesn't really care about developing the team, either individually or as a unit.
But thats all by the by. What I want to know is - how should I pitch this on my CV/to potential recruiters if I want to search for another job?
