Hi, all. I’m currently 21 years old and am a dropout. I’ve been researching jobs that don’t require degrees. I have a great love for cars and I’ve settled my goal on working as a salesperson at a dealership.
I’ve worked as a swim instructor/ as the desk attendant who also sold swim lessons, lifeguard and at Swiss Chalet as a waiter.
I’m very doubtful I can get the job... but at the same time working at a dealership doesn’t require a degree and it seems dealerships hire a ton of young people. My plan is to start at the bottom of the ladder . Possibly Honda as they’re a top selling brand and I believe I’d have more opportunities from the higher traffic.
My questions are..
Should I even put University in my resume ? Ie. Credits completed at X for marketing or part-time student ?
What are a car salespersons roles ? Of course talking to clients and making sales. How about when no one is in the store or all other clients are being taken care of?
Has anyone here gotten a job at a dealership with little experience ? And what did you contribute that too?
What are some frequently asked Interview questions at dealerships ?
Lastly, any tips on interviews, nerve calming, or any book recommendations (esp. ones focusing on emotional intelligence and such)?
